DSS denies invading CBN

The Department of State Services (DSS), has denied invading the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday.

A statement by the DSS Spokesman, Dr Peter Afunanya, described the reported invasion of the CBN by DSS operatives to arrest Emefiele, as fake news.

According to the statement, “The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the false news making the round that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor.

“This is fake news and quite misleading,” the statement said.

The release comes amidst recent report of DSS seeking to arrest the bank Governor of allegations of terror financing, which a Court has described as without evidence.

The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, who proceeded on annual leave abroad in December 2022, resumed work today (Monday), January 16, 2023
