Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Yusuf Bichi, has called for a more valid collaboration among the law enforcement agencies with a view to achieving for Nigeria a hitch free general elections devoid of security lapses.
The DSS DG made the call during the People’ Security Monitor 2022 Abuja Security Conference on Wednesday in Abuja.
Represented by the DSS Spokesman, Dr Peter Afunanya, Bichi said that security could only be enhanced or achieved through collaborative efforts before, during and after the 2023 general elections.
“At the DSS, what we have continued to do is to collaborate with other sister agencies, governments at different levels and indeed all stakeholders in Nigeria and even outside Nigeria to ensure that there is lasting peace, not necessarily restricted to the election period, but consistently all the time. Nigeria’s security is paramount to us, and we are prepared in all ramifications not to allow anything tamper with it.
We should all know as a matter of fact that without or without election Nigeria remains our permanent country, and this explains why we should protect its corporate existence at all cost.
For a security agency like DSS, we are duty bound to ensure detection and prevention of crimes against Nigeria. We must at all times ensure the unity of Nigeria, and we are committed to this.” he said.
