Woman bites NSCDC personnel during demolition exercise

A woman affected by the ongoing demolition of illegal structures at Katampe in the FCT has bitten a personnel of the Nigeria Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

The NSCDC personnel was part of a taskforce deployed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to carry out the demolition of shanties and illegal structures.

A tussle had ensued when the enforcement officers attempted to prevent the irate woman from taking aggressive action as her structure was being demolished.

She then bit one officer who bled profusely, and was immediately rushed to the hospital, while the attacker in question was arrested and taken to Gwarinpa Police station.

Senior Special Assistant to FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement, Comrade Ikharo Attah confirmed that the offender has been handed over to the Police for further action.

“Attack on the taskforce is normal in our operation,” Comrade Attah explained.

“The security lady that was bitten by the other woman was very civil; and another woman bit her in the process of doing her job, but we will leave the Police to do their job.”

He said the security challenges around the high brow Katampe extension district necessitated the demolition, adding, “what we are seeing in this high-brow area is the issue of extreme criminality occasioned by the people in this area.”
