The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command has apprehended a 24-year-old man who allegedly attacked a man with a machete.
The spokesman of the command, Mr Mohammed Tukur-Abdara while confirming the incident on Thursday in Katsina said it happened on October 20.
He added that the suspect, Abbas Maikare, allegedly made of the machete to cause severe injury on his victim at about 5p.m, at Gwangwan junction in Katsina.
Tukur-Abdara furthered revealed that the victim was severely injured on his arm and back, and has now been hospitalized at Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina for medical attention.
“The command’s operatives who were on the prowl of such criminals quickly swung into action and apprehended the hoodlum, thereby, preventing more bloodshed and the breakdown of law and order.
“The suspect, after preliminary investigation and interrogation confessed to have committed the said offence and when investigation is concluded would be charged to court for prosecution,” he said.
He also disclosed that the state NSCDC Commandant, Muhammad Sanusi-Bello has given assurance that the corps would not draw back in its commitment to flush criminals out of the state.
The commandant informed the members of the public to help security agents with right and up-to-date information on suspicious persons and their movements, for quick intervention.
He has sent message of warning to criminals to stay away from the state, reaffirming that anyone caught would be made to face the wrath of the law.
