Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Zamfara Command, has promised to remain apolitical and provide security cover to all political parties in the course of their electioneering compaigns.
Mr Mohammad Muazu, the NSCDC Commandant in the state, gave the assurance while receiving officials of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), in Gusau on Thursday.
He reiterated that the personnel would “remain professional, discipline and neutral during the period of electioneering campaigns as a build up towards 2023 general elections.
”Muazu said that officers of the Corps were professionally groomed to ensure the protection of lives and property, especially critical infrastructure and national assets.
The commandant said the NSCDC would collaborate with other security agencies to ensure law and order before, during and after the poll.
He said the agencies would also ensure that the electorate exercise their civic obligations as enshrined in the Constitution during the 2023 poll.
Earlier, state NHRC Coordinator, Mr Abdullahi Abubakar, pledged to collaborate with the corps to ensure the rights of citizens were protected.
Abubakar said that the visit was to reinvigorate the partnership between the two organisations, especially in the build up to 2023 general elections.
He commended NSCDC for its effort to restore law and order in the state.
