The commander general of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps’ , NSCDC, special intelligence squad says two people were arrested at a dump site in Benin, the Edo state capital, which has about fifteen surface industrial tanks containing over 700,000 litres of adulterated crude oil.
The two gatekeepers were apprehended at a fence dump site used to store adulterated petroleum products in the state’s Benin-Agbor bypass area.
The Edo State NSCDC, command, DSC, Efosa OGBEBOR, who spoke shortly after the incident, stated that the premises was discovered as a result of credible information.
He also said the premises would be sealed .
The suspects however denied any involvement in the act and claimed they are carrying out their legitimate duties.
The NSCDC commander general reiterated that his vow to stamp out oil pipeline vandalism, illegal oil bunkering, illegal dealings in petroleum products, illegal mining of solid and natural minerals and other disheartening forms of economic sabotage, being perpetrated by criminal elements, across the country.
