Military exercise: Ikpeazu tasks  army on rules of engagement

Speaking at the 14 Brigade Headquarters, Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area, during the official flag off of “Exercise Golden Dawn II”, Ikpeazu, who was represented by his deputy, Ude Oko Chukwu, also charged the army to observe laid down rules of engagement and code of conduct.

He said this was necessary to avoid actions that might infringe on the rights of citizens and host communities during the exercise.

While using the event to solicit for the army to compliment the state government’s efforts at providing succour to various communities, the governor implored Abians to cooperate with soldiers and other security personnel in the conduct of the exercise.

Ikpeazu assured soldiers in the state of the government’s continued support, to enable them carry out their constitutional responsibilities.

Commander, 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Brig. Gen Adegoke Adetuji said the exercise was designed to promote a conducive environment for businesses and other socio-economic activities as well as to enhance the security of law-abiding citizens of the state during the Yuletide season and electioneering period.
