Protect police facilities, IGP charges Yobe residents

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Uman Alkali Baba has urged residents of Damaturu in Yobe, to protect Police facilities to enhance effective policing in the state.

He made the call on Saturday at the inauguration of the Police Metro Area Command, Nayinawa in Damaturu, the state capital.

Baba noted that the station would provide conducive atmosphere for police to fight crime and maintain law and order in the state.

The Police boss urged residents to guard the facility to enable the police to serve them diligently.

“Own this edifice and protect it. Don’t vent anger on it for any reason,” he said.

In his remarks, the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Haruna Garba said the facility would boost the morale of the police towards discharging their duties effectively.

He noted that the IGP had performed wonderfully in ensuring the welfare and promotion of rank and files of the command.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the IGP also inaugurated the newly constructed staff quarters at the state Police Headquarters.
