Nigeria’s prominent Islamic Cleric and Chief Mediator between the Nigerian government and bandits, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has denied insinuations in some quarters about his hatred for Christians, insisting that there is no iota of truth in the whole insinuations as being peddled by mischief mongers who are hell bent using religion as a platform to cause disaffection among Nigerians in order to trigger dismemberment of the country.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with People’s Security Monitor at his Kaduna home recently, Gumi emphasized that he has no reasons whatsoever to nurse grudges against Christians or embark on campaign of calumny against them.
“There is no reason for me to hate Christians. I had been close to Christians right from my childhood, and l have lots of them as my friends. Of course, it couldn’t have been otherwise, because l had both my primary and secondary education at Christian schools. If you check names on my phone you see names of lots of Pastors, Bishops Reverend fathers. I speak with them almost all the time; and we meet often to find solutions to the problems of insecurity in Nigeria.” Gumi said
